Chanel Hears Johnny Talking In His Sleep About Joy, Who Stuns Alex With a Confession

A shirtless Alex wakes up on his couch and groggily answers his phone to Stephanie. She’s just checking on him after his bout with the tainted cupcake. He says his fever broke, and he has someone there to take care of him. He glances at Joy, who looks up from her phone. Stephanie tenses upon learning Joy is there but remains friendly and upbeat. When they hang up, she studies his contact info on her phone until Philip approaches.

Sweat glistens on Johnny’s forehead as he tosses and turns in bed. Chanel brings in a food tray and sits next to him. A sleeping Johnny mumbles, “No Joy. We shouldn’t do this.” Chanel’s face scrunches in confusion. When he wakes up, Chanel asks what he and Joy shouldn’t be doing.

In the Square, Kristen grumbles about Brady confiding in Ava about their relationship. She texts Brady, who is at the hospital, consoling Xander. Brady assumes she wants to meet for an update on Sarah.

In her hospital room, Sarah tells Maggie she could feel the water bottle fall on her leg. “The serum is working!” Sarah exclaims. She excitedly looks forward to taking Victoria to the park and going back to work. Xander returns, and Maggie leaves them to celebrate. Xander squeezes and kisses Sarah’s legs, all of which she feels. Sarah wipes tears as she expresses how happy she is, not only for herself but for him too. “You are everything to me,” he says.

In the Square, Kristen assumes Brady doesn’t want to reunite because the serum isn’t working on Sarah. As she insists it’s legit, Brady gets a call from Maggie. He’s elated by the Sarah news. Maggie expresses her gratitude for Brady convincing Kristen to give Sarah the serum. After he hangs up, Kristen expresses how thrilled she is for Sarah and credits him for making it happen. She also wonders if he’s willing to give them another chance now.

In the Pub, Philip and Stephanie embrace, and he joins her at her table. He notes she’s changed her hair (which she’s done six times since she’s seen him last) and asks if everything is okay. She tells him about the crises at Body and Soul, including the tainted cupcakes that his cousin Alex ate. Philip recalls that she and Alex dated. She fills him in on their relationship, which is best left as friends and colleagues. She then asks about his push for Titan. Philip wants to hire her PR firm to make him look good in and out of court as he goes after Titan. “Absolutely not,” she says.

In their bedroom, Johnny lies to Chanel, saying he must have been dreaming about Joy’s acting choices, which he disagreed with on set. It must mean he’s working too much to be dreaming about his actors. She grimaces. Later, Chanel tells Johnny that he and others got sick from tainted cupcakes. She assures him he’ll survive, though, but the same might not be said about Sweet Bits. He encourages to go investigate if the cupcakes came from her bakery.

Since Kayla’s in surgery, another doctor confirms Sarah is regaining the feeling in her legs. After he leaves her room to set up more testing, Sarah tells Xander she wants to try to walk.

In the Square, Brady tells Kristen he wants to be co-parents and friends with her — for Rachel’s sake. Kristen reels. Does he have any idea what she gave up for him? She accuses him of playing her and laughing with Ava about it. She knows he’s salivating at the thought of getting it on with her. Brady denies it all, including being interested in Ava. Kristen vacillates between anger and despair and invokes Rachel as she implores him to give them another chance. Brady knows their daughter is strong and will be just fine. Kristen evenly agrees that Rachel will be fine. “Because she has me.” Picking up on her veiled threat, Brady urges Kristen not to keep them apart because it will hurt Rachel as much as it hurts him. Parroting Brady, Kristen says she can’t make any promises.

Maggie returns to Sarah’s room as her daughter insists on trying to walk right now. Sarah urges a concerned Xander to let her try. Maggie sides with Xander so as not to risk her recovery. Maggie leaves to call Bonnie, and Xander makes Sarah promise to wait for the doctors and to take a nap. She reluctantly promises, but as soon as Xander leaves, she pushes the blankets off her legs.

In the Pub, Stephanie explains she won’t take Philip on as a client because they used to be engaged. He promises it’s strictly business and pleads with her until she agrees.

Alone in bed, Johnny decides he can’t keep lying to his wife.

At Alex’s place, Joy squirms as he assumes she’s befriended Johnny and Chanel. She admits she doesn’t deserve Chanel’s friendship because she hooked up with her husband. Dumbfounded, Alex presses for details. Joy recounts going to the bar and meeting Johnny who wrongly assumed Chanel cheated on him. She begs Alex not to say anything as Chanel knocks on the door.

As Xander and Maggie pray Sarah walks again, Sarah shuffles to the hospital lobby using a cane. “Looks like your prayers have been answered.” Maggie tears up as Xander embraces his wife.
