In the March 18 episode, Steve and Marlena finally got an important lead from Shane Donovan (Charles Shaughnessy). Shane revealed that John’s handler had lost track of him in Estonia,
making it their best starting point in the search for answers. Determined to find him, Marlena and Steve waste no time boarding a flight, preparing for an intense and emotional quest.
Once they arrive, they begin piecing together John’s mysterious trail, which is anything but straightforward. His last known location may have been in Estonia, but there’s no guarantee he’s still there. Each clue they uncover presents more questions, leading them to suspect that John has been taken against his will. Whether he’s fallen into the hands of a familiar enemy or a new adversary, one thing is certain—John is in serious danger.
It’s possible that John’s heroic instincts led him into this predicament. He may have stepped in to protect someone else, offering himself up as a hostage to ensure their safety. Given his track record, it wouldn’t be surprising if he sacrificed himself to save an innocent life. Regardless of the circumstances, his complete lack of communication with Marlena and the rest of his loved ones suggests that something truly dire has happened.
