Mark Grossman Joins General Hospital: A Surprising Twist in His Career!
In a shocking revelation, The Young and the Restless star Mark Grossman, best known for his portrayal of Adam Newman, recently shared a surprising piece of his career journey. Before becoming a fan-favorite on Y&R, Mark almost found himself in the world of General Hospital instead! In a candid chat with GH legend Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) on the State of Mind podcast, Mark opened up about his early career path, which was anything but conventional.
Before acting, Mark’s dream was to become a professional motocross racer, chasing adrenaline rather than acting scripts. However, after motocross didn’t pan out, he shifted to modeling, which eventually led him to acting. In fact, he didn’t even know what a monologue was when he first started! Mark’s early acting gigs began in Arizona, but it was his move to Los Angeles that truly opened doors. It was there that he auditioned for multiple soap operas, including General Hospital.
Mark recalled a special moment when GH’s casting director Mark Teshner gave him several chances to land a role on the ABC soap. While he didn’t land a part in Port Charles, his audition left a lasting impression. Eventually, it was The Young and the Restless that offered him the iconic role of Adam Newman, but not without a nerve-wracking audition experience on set. Mark admitted he was completely out of his element when he first joined the show, especially since his screen test included heavyweights like Sharon Case, Joshua Morrow, and Gina Tognoni.
Could Mark Grossman’s journey with General Hospital still be in the cards? Fans are already dreaming of an explosive crossover—Adam Newman and Sonny Corinthos in the same room would certainly be a must-watch! What do you think? Would you love to see this GH and Y&R mashup?
