R.I.P., [Spoiler]? Young & Restless Storyline Ends With Three Characters Down

Welp, nobody can say that Young & Restless’ Ian Ward didn’t go out with a bang. In the January 29 episode (recapped here), the madman held the Newman family at gunpoint. Well, except for Abby, who always manages to get excluded from such things, whether because dad Victor didn’t phone for as ordered or because Melissa Ordway is now recurring, not a contract player.
But Ian still did a lot of damage. Not only did he pistol-whip Victor’s henchman Mortonson, but he also shot Victor. Of course, Ian himself also took a bullet in the chaos. While Nick was perfectly content to watch the villain die a slow and painful death — whether he will is TBD — it also didn’t look so hot for the patriarch of the Newman family.
As the hour drew to a close, Victor was bleeding badly and could barely remain conscious. Of course, the idea of the show killing him off is beyond ludicrous. The legendary Eric Braeden has made it clear that he has no intention of retiring from his iconic role. So Victor is almost surely as safe as a kitten.
Ian, on the other hand… With his partner in crime Jordan recently having bitten the dust — read Colleen Zenk’s goodbye here — he could well be next. Even gullible Tessa isn’t going to want to give him a second chance after this!
