Shawn brings Rafe back to his place, where his former boss asks how Shawn could sleep with Jada. Shawn apologizes, saying he wasn’t in a great place. Rafe accuses him of using Jada, Shawn says of course not, he cares about her and… Things get worse. “You have feelings for Jada?!”

No! Shawn shuts him down, saying Jada did nothing wrong, if anything, be mad at him. Shawn gets a call from the station, leaving Rafe to look around and notice Jada’s blouse on the couch that clearly had someone sleeping there. “One time thing, huh?”

When Shawn comes back into the room, Rafe’s gone.

Sami Worries About Johnny

Sami’s at the hospital, on the phone with Sydney, filling her in on EJ’s condition. Johnny walks over, Sami hangs up and invites him down to the pub to visit Roman. Johnny just wants to go home to think. “Of course!”

Johnny credits Rafe with helping him be in a place to listen to their talk without judging. Sami’s about to ask him what she was about to before, but then decides to drop it and let him get back to Paulina’s.

Johnny Tells Chanel About Seeing Sami

Chanel brings her mom some tea, who’s a bit annoyed that her daughter thought she shot EJ. Chanel admits she’s in a bad place right now, especially with Johnny’s mental state. Paulina leaves and Johnny gets home, telling Chanel he was at the hospital visiting his dad and he ran into his mom and they got to talk.

Chanel gently asks how it went and while Johnny says he’s still struggling to understand how she fell in love with her dad, he understands how much he loves his mom. He’s never felt closer to her — though his dad now feels like a stranger. He doesn’t know if he’ll ever get past his anger.

Johnny talks about happy memories with EJ a bit. They always loved each other — but now, not so much. He tried to remember all the good when he visited his dad, but could only see “the man who raped my mother.” The only thing he could think was, “He got what he deserved.”

Chanel reassures him that he can feel whatever he’s feeling. “Thoughts aren’t actions.” She then tells Johnny about Paulina’s attempt to prosecute EJ. Johnny appreciates it, but EJ could still die.

Paulina Checks In With Jada

At the police station, Jada grabs her gun and we get yet another flashback to Shawn realizing it’s gone. She tucks it away in her drawer and wipes her hands — literally. Paulina shows up wanting to know what to say about EJ’s shooting. Nothing, so far, Jada says.

They’re waiting on ballistics for Kristen’s gun, but if they’re not a match… Paulina wants to know what other suspects Jada has if not, but is told to focus on one thing at a time. Right now, Kristen’s the main suspect.

Paulina orders Jada to go home and get some rest, but Jada tells her what happened with Rafe. Paulina encourages her that Rafe can come to his senses yet. Jada gets back to Shawn’s, collects her things and says Stephanie’s invited her back. Shawn tells her about Rafe’s visit, and how poorly it went.

Sami Visits Her Dad

Roman treats us to another flashback to putting his gun away, when Kate walks in. He’s got something to tell her, but first, she tells him about Vivian. Roman’s curious about what makes her think Philip would give her anything, but Kate just calls Vivian insane.

Before Roman can tell Kate what he was going to about EJ’s shooting, Sami pops in and the two rush over to each other happily. She says she came to talk to Johnny and thinks it went OK. Roman and Kate both apologize for opening their mouths, but Sami’s fine with it. The conversation had to happen.

Roman tells Sami Rex is in town too — she didn’t know — then invites her to dinner, but she’s got another stop to make. She leaves her dad and Kate to talk about Johnny’s struggle, then they pivot to Roman asking Kate about the gun Rex found.

Kate’s a bit taken aback by Rex thinking she might have shot EJ. Taken aback and annoyed. Roman says it was just a concern of Rex’s. “Philip had a concern, too, so I guess that’s two of my sons who think I’m a trigger happy maniac.” Well… Roman says. “In fairness…”

Kate makes it clear she didn’t shoot EJ. “You believe me, don’t you?” He hesitates and for the 100th time, we flash back to the same flashback of him putting the gun away as earlier in the episode. Roman believes Kate.

Sami and Rafe Reconnect…

Rafe runs home to picture a totally bonkers scenario where Shawn is working out shirtless, Jada slinks in seductively and tells Shawn Rafe leaving did her a favor. They start going at it.

Rafe snaps back to reality just as Sami shows up at his door. They hug and Rafe tells her about his run in with Johnny. She knows. They talked and it went well — because of what Rafe said to Johnny. She admits, though, that she’s there for another reason.

She’s worried about Johnny. “Rafe, what if Johnny is the one who shot EJ?” She doesn’t want to think that, but what does Rafe think? “He didn’t do it,” Rafe says flatly, and that’s good enough for Sami.

Before Sami leaves, Rafe opens up about his Jada problems. She’s dumbfounded to hear that Arnold was back and disgusted that EJ did this again. He didn’t assault Jada, but he did devastate her… until she hopped into bed with Shawn. Sami almost does a spit take. “Shawn? My cousin, Shawn??”

But even Sami understands her hesitancy to tell and tells him he’s being absurd for Jada not knowing it was him. He knows, he knows. He was starting to see things more clearly, but he just found her blouse at Shawn’s. They’re obviously at it again.

Xander Is Furious to See Vivian

Xander’s horrified to see Vivian, and even more so that she claims she’s moving in. “Over my dead body.” That can be arranged, she says. But when he threatens to throw her out with Philip, she tells Xander that he’s the one who invited her.

Xander flips out at Philip, demanding to know how he could do this — wait, “What exactly does Vivian have on you?” Philip hesitates, then says Vivian’s blackmailing him. “Emotional” blackmail. They have a mother/son bond, yada yada, even if he can’t stand her.

Xander grits his teeth and admits the court declared the house half Philip’s, so fine. He’s breaking the news to Maggie, though. Xander stomps out and Vivian and Philip waste no time talking about the forged letter and Xander’s potential murder.

In the Show’s Final Moments

Chanel asks Johnny to promise he won’t be consumed by rage, but focus on the good things in life. “Like me.” They hug and head to bed.

Shawn tells Jada that he seemed to be getting through to Rafe before he disappeared, and no, he didn’t tell that Jada spent the night.

Rafe laments losing Jada to Shawn again, and Sami assures him he’s a good man. She’s been doing a lot of introspection, and if she had to do it over again, she wouldn’t have let him go or taken him for granted. Rafe’s the healthiest relationship she had. Her happiest memories were with him.

They lean in and start kissing.
