Steve’s sitting at an outdoor table, waiting to meet with his contact, keeping Kayla up-to-date on what’s happening. He hangs up, checks the menu and… Andrew sits down. “Well, this is a surprise.”
Andrew says his father sent him to monitor the situation. Paul’s there, too, and since he’s Andrew’s fiance, he wants to do everything he can to find John. Rules or no rules. And he knows more about John’s mission than even Paul knows.
What he knows is classified, though, but that isn’t stopping Steve. He gets Andrew’s loyalty, but Steve’s a trained agent and can be trusted. “OK,” Andrew finally says. “I’ll tell you what I know.” He does. Offscreen. Steve just says it’s a lot to take in, and Andrew tells him that the situation is too dangerous to tell even Paul and Marlena.
Paul and Marlena Reminisce Over John
Marlena’s on the phone in Tallinn telling Brady to stay home when there’s a knock on the door. Paul surprises her and immediately offers a hug. She’s appreciative, but wishes he hadn’t come all this way. Paul assures her he wanted to be there and he’ll be by her side until they find dad.
“Thank you,” Marlena relents gratefully. Paul came with Andrew — Shane sent him, insisting he and Theresa can take care of Kimberly in California. Paul insists that “even if the odds are virtually impossible,” his dad can beat them. They reminisce a bit about Paul first coming to town and how far they’ve come.
In two weeks, Paul realizes, it’ll be ten years since learning John was his dad and it was the best thing to happen to him. We flash back to John insisting he’s grateful to get to know Paul. Marlena mentions Paul risking his life to save John from Orpheus…
Steve and Andrew show up just then and tell them someone’s building a nuclear device in Tallinn and John found the secret facility the device was being housed. And Andrew knows where that is. The fellas head out to the facility over Marlena’s strenuous objections.
They’re all trained and need to get in and out fast — it’s just a matter of “maximizing our success.” Marlena agrees.
Kate Tells Philip to Pull It Together
Philip rushes over to the Pub to talk to his mom, where Kate warns him that EJ’s out for blood. He wants to hurt one of her kids, so she’s warned all her boys. Philip promises he’ll be careful, but tells her his life is probably over anyway.
They sit down and he tells her about Xander’s affair assumption. Kate laughs it off, saying almost getting choked by Alex is better than losing his company. Philip isn’t sure Stephanie will risk her relationship to cover for him, so Kate tells her son to get out and talk to her. “Fine!” Even though he’s sure it’s too late.
He heads out and Roman wanders over, noting Philip looked depressed and Kate worried. “What’s going on?” She says it’s just relationship drama, which surprises Roman, since he thought Philip was single. Kate pivots to asking about Kimberly and it sidetracks her husband successfully. They turn to talking about John and worrying over his safety.
Xander Scares Sarah
Sarah’s horrified at the Kiriakis mansion, demanding to know why in the world Xander would tell Alex that Philip was sleeping with Stephanie. He wants to know why she’s so upset. He didn’t mean to tell Alex, he just overheard Xander’s dressing down of Philip.
Sarah pushes: “You couldn’t have stalled a little bit?” Why would he?? She asks what happened, Xander fills her in, and she realizes what Alex was doing at Stephanie’s. And now she’s worried. Xander figures Stephanie will come clean, while Sarah just hopes Sarah moves on and it all blows over.
Xander keeps going on and on about Stephanie betraying Alex and lying to his face and Sarah finally snaps. “Xander, I made a mistake.” But it’s just underestimating how much he cared about his family…
He understands completely, but with Victor gone, he feels like he needs to keep the family together. Xander wants to check on Alex, so Sarah insists on going with him.
Stephanie Tells Alex Everything
Alex wants the truth from Stephanie, so she agrees to tell him. Yes, she and Philip are keeping a secret, but it’s not cheating and has nothing to do with Alex. Could he just trust her and leave it? No, he can’t. Stephanie relents, sits him down and lays out the forged letter and Philip stealing half of Titan.
She overheard, told Sarah and was convinced to keep quiet. But when she tells Alex to keep the secret, he refuses. “My cousin deserves to know the truth.” This is personal for him, after he himself fell for a phony letter. But Stephanie says Sarah and Xander’s marriage will end over this.
She explains why Sarah did it all and Alex points out (very validly), “Shouldn’t Sarah be able to trust her own husband?” Stephanie points out that if Alex tells, all the stability at Titan will be destroyed, including his job. Alex still insists he has to tell his cousin, and before Stephanie can get much farther, Philip shows up at their door.
Before he can say much, Alex yells at him to shut up because he knows everything. “You’re a liar and a fraud!” Philip insists he feels bad about lying to Xander, but they’re making this work. They’re so close to taking DiMera! So Alex needs to shut up to protect Victor’s legacy.
Xander knocks on the door and Alex answers over Philips protestations. Xander and Sarah cautiously walk in and Alex announces to everyone’s panicked faces that it’s time for the truth to come out.
In the Final Moments…
Xander asks if there’s anything he can do to help smooth things over, which Alex appreciates. But he knows what has to be done. “Stephanie admitted to the affair and now she and Philip will never see each other again.” Wait. That’s it, Xander wanders. Yup. They argued, time to move on. Sarah and Stephanie look shocked.
Kate tells Roman how happy she is that he gave up his badge to run Brady’s Pub. She can’t handle losing him. “You’re never going to lose me, Kate. Not ever.”
Steve, Andrew and Paul take out the baddies at the facility and clear the path. Steve enters an office, picks up a random folder, opens it and… “Of course. I should have known.” Back at the room, Marlena calls Belle to fill her in on the new lead. She hangs up and Orpheus walks in behind her. “Forget your shampoo?” Marlena turns around, shocked.
