For the most part, the days of Xander and Philip’s behavior shocking us on Days of Our Lives are long over. We know what to expect from these two, and it’s usually the worst! That’s especially true right now, from Philip’s team up con with Vivian to Xander’s attempted murder of his half-brother.
Plus, this isn’t the first time they’ve tried running Titan together and the last time around, it ended with both of them hating each other more than ever. So if history is any indication, then this time won’t be much prettier!
But they could do the one thing we never expected: Get along!
We know, it seems pretty much impossible, but it does seem like Maggie and Sarah finally got through to Xander to play nice with his brother. And Philip’s got nothing to lose, especially knowing that his claim to Titan is illegitimate. If he stays on Xander’s good side, he can hopefully keep his brother from questioning what really happened with “Victor’s” letter too much.
And you know that old saying, “Fake it till you make it?” If they force themselves to be friendly and get along while working together, those feelings of goodwill could blossom for real.
In fact, we kind of hope that’s where the show is going! On the one hand, Xander finally coming to trust and care for Philip like a brother and friend would make the inevitable truth coming out hurt so much more. It would rock Xander to the core and give us what we’re sure would be incredible performances as he rages against ever trusting family — or, heck, anyone! — again.

Also, it might take away some of his inevitable ire from Sarah keeping Philip’s secret if Xander focuses more on his brother’s betrayal.
On the other hand, if the two grow close enough, what if a guilt-ridden Philip is the one to come clean to Xander? He could keep Sarah’s involvement out of it, take the blame for himself and ask his brother for forgiveness. And Xander, knowing who Philip is, how much influence (for better or worse) Victor had on his life, and understanding the feeling of desperately wanting to impress their father, even after death.
Xander might even (Dare we say it?) forgive Philip! Not right away, of course. He’d have to work out his anger quite a bit, but a grudging respect for Philip being the one to come clean could help it along.
And that would be the true shocker, ushering in a new era of unity for the Kiriakis family and finally giving these two brothers with some serious daddy issues hope for a better future.
What do you think? Do you want them to get along and come to love each other as brothers? Do you think it’s even possible?
